The Czech Republic is widely known for its many quality festivals and celebrations. The ones below are among the best. I present them is chronological order.

Mid May to early June. Leading classical artists from around the world perform in cultural halls, theatres and churches.

Folklore Festival

June. Come here to enjoy lively traditional folk music and dance performances.

Celebration of the Rose

Mid June. Features period music and theatre performances plus medieval knight jousting and costumed jugglers and craftsmen.

International Film Festival

July. One of Europe's leading cinema gatherings.

Music Festival

Mid September to early October. Mainly classical music.

International Jazz Festival

Late October to early November. World famous jazz artists.

Christmas Festival

Mid December to Christmas. Caroling, musical performances, decorative lights, and festive strolling merrymakers create an enchanting seasonal spirit in Old Town.


St. Sylvester's Day

December 31 (New Year's Eve). In many cities and towns. Fireworks greet the New Year.
